Unwanted hair is caused by any one or a combination of the following factors:

heredity
glandular or hormonal imbalance
pregnancy
reaction to certain medications
normal aging process
excessive waxing, tweezing and all other temporary methods of hair removal

Stress can also be a contributing factor to hair growth; any situation that stimulates the adrenal glands can trigger hormonal reaction that causes fine, soft body hair to grow in as coarse noticeable dark hairs. This is unfortunately a permanent consequence and will not be reversed when the stress disappears.

Hair grows in continuous cycles. The growth has three stages: Anagen (active stage), Catagen (regression/atrophy) and Telogen (resting stage when hair falls out).

In order to achieve permanent reduction, the hair follicle should be hit by the laser during the anagen or active stage of hair growth because anogen hair contains the largest amounts of melanin. Since only about 15-25% of hairs are in this active growing stage at the same time, repeated sessions are necessary in time with your anogen growth cycle.
