Laser Hair Removal Consultation

Consultations at Champion Laser & Electrolysis are complementary. During the consultation, our specialist will assess your suitability for laser treatments versus electrolysis based on what you want to have done and on your skin and hair type. With the latest in technologies, we are able to address most problems with laser, but there are still some treatments or sensitive areas that need other solutions.

Plan consultation before taking laser hair removal treatment

We will discuss your goals, realistic expectations, and discuss any questions or concerns. We will also go over pre-treatment protocols, and give you a basic education on hair growth and the options available to you.

Consultations are generally 30-45 minutes long and include an examination of the area(s) to be treated, a test patch and a thorough explanation of all aspects of hair removal treatment.

After the examination (during the same appointment), we will be able to outline a personalized treatment plan designed to meet your needs, and give you a quotation on cost. All programs are tailored specifically to you and your needs.

3-6 treatments are generally required for best results, but some people may need more than this.

Clients with very light colouring and fine hair will generally require 5-8 treatments. Dark skin clients may require 8-10 treatments. If you suffer from a hormone imbalance your treatments may be ongoing.

Every client's expectations of hair loss are different. You may be happy with 50-60% loss and may want to discontinue, or you may want to achieve maximum hair loss.

Patient Containdications

A contraindication is a condition or factor that increases the risks involved in going forward with laser or electrolysis treatments. These factors may affect whether this is a recommended course of action for you, or affect timing, or may cause us to adjust how we go about treatments to ensure your health and wellbeing:

  • History of keloidal scarring
  • Active infections: herpetic lesions, cold sores (place on anti-viral medications pre-treatment)
  • Tattoos, permanent make-up, pigmented lesions (can treat around them)
  • Use of photosensitizing medications such as Accutane (isotrenoin), tetracycline
  • Electrolysis, waxing, threading or plucking in last 6 weeks (target has been removed)
  • Pregnancy or trying to get pregnant
  • Client on Retin A or other strong glycolics
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Vitalgo, Lupus, Scleroderma

We will discuss these things with you during the consultation and adjust your program accordingly.
